Contaminated vaccine scare
Novartis, the manufacture of the meningitis C vaccine, has withdrawn thousands of doses of the vaccine due to contamination fears.
A number of batches were found to be contaminated with staphylococcus aureus bacteria sparking a mass recall of the vaccine.
It is understood that the contaminated batches haven’t reached the supply chain and the recall was purely precautionary.

“Whilst it is clear that the contaminated batches haven’t reached the UK it is worrying that there has been a contamination. Novartis should work hard to find the source and ensure that this does not happen again.”
